Morning pages

An hour with a book before the inbox opens. I keep a numbered list of about a hundred, and every note ends with a rule I actually use.

The shelf

Fifty-two of about a hundred. Pull one out.

Every book on my list has a permanent number. These fifty-two have public notes so far, each ending with the one rule I took from it.

How I read

A production line, not a talent.

How I turn books and the lives of people I admire into rules I actually use. It is a production line, not a talent.

I keep a numbered list of the books I want to work through, currently about a hundred. Every title earns its place against the five areas of my life I care most about: career, capital, personal growth, health and family. The numbers are permanent. Book 01 is always Book 01, which means my notes, files and audio reviews can all point at the same thing.

People I study

I don’t study what they did. I study the rules they kept.
