Why this site exists

A short note on what goodlife.cool is for, and what it will never be.

For most of my career, the work I’m proudest of has been invisible by design. When a campus, a workplace or a building system runs well, nobody notices. That’s the point.

The trouble is that invisible work is hard to explain. A résumé can list what I was responsible for. It can’t show how I think, what I read, or what I’d order for you at a beef noodle shop.

So this site is organised the way a good day in Taipei is organised. It starts at 05:30 with a run, moves through the morning’s reading and the day’s thinking about AI and infrastructure, and ends somewhere warm after dark with live jazz.

What you’ll find here

  • Run: how I train, and routes near the business hotels for visitors.
  • Read: notes on books and on people whose operating rules I study, each ending with the rule I took.
  • Think: essays on AI, power and buildings, plus dated calls I can be checked against.
  • Eat and drink: the places I’d take a visiting executive, with the Chinese address to show your taxi driver.

What you won’t find

No details about my children. No health data. Nothing from my employer’s internal work. No investment advice. No affiliate links. Nobody paid to be on these lists.

How it’s built

Everything here starts as plain text files I own, so it can outlive any particular tool. Drafts can start with help from AI. Nothing goes up until I’ve rewritten it myself.

If something here is useful, the best thanks is to borrow it and make it yours. If you’d like to talk, find me on LinkedIn.
